Above is a list of the types of samples that may be collected. For instance, cerebral spinal fluid is only collected if clinically indicated.

Samples include: those left over from standard clinical care tests, those taken in addition to those required for clinical testing but at the time of collection for clinical purposes (e.g. blood), and those collected solely for research (e.g. saliva).

As of March 2019, over 10,000 primary specimens have been collected.

1 Non-cancerous (normal) tissue resected during surgery, or samples from a participant not diagnosed with cancer, are kept for comparison to cancer samples.
