Reference and/or access link:

Children were asked to hand write a short story about what they imagined their life would be like when they are 25 years old. The Life at 25 assessment was based on the 1958 UK birth cohort’s storytelling activity (Elliot, J. and Morrow, V. (2007). Imagining the Future: Preliminary analysis of NCDS essays written by children at age 11. London, U.K.: Centre for Longitudinal Studies). Handwriting samples can be used to assess fine motor skills and handwriting competency. Story content can be used to assess linguistic (e.g. vocabulary, grammar) or psychological constructs (e.g. optimism vs. pessimism). Contact the CheckPoint team for more information.
